The Role:
As a New Business Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in leading and motivating a team of commercial underwriters. Your focus will be on driving high performance, fostering a culture of development and collaboration, and ensuring exceptional service to our broker partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve business targets.
- Foster a positive and high-performing team culture with a strong focus on accountability and results.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, offering guidance and providing feedback.
- Drive the team to Secure new business in line with the underwriting appetite and strategy.
- Monitor and analyse team performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement new business strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to maximise new business opportunities.
- Support the team in negotiating and securing new business.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness to broker enquiries.x7.
- Work with internal stakeholders to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
- Ensure underwriting decisions comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and risk appetite.
- Report on team performance and key business metrics to Underwriting Service Manager
Skills:
- Proven experience leading a team within a commercial underwriting or insurance environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- A results driven mindset with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
- Excellent relationship management skills, particularly with brokers and stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the UK insurance market.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills to drive performance improvements.
- Ability to make recommendations to improve underwriting processes and efficiencies.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
