The Role:

• As an Underwriting Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading, motivating and driving the performance of our underwriters to work as a highly-performing team.
• You will work closely with the Underwriting Service Manager and support the delivery of the departmental business plan in line with the company strategy.
• Building effective relationships within the business will be key to ensuring you promote a collaborative culture, displaying positive engagement and behaviours within Commercial Express, and leading by example as a role model.
• Lead, Drive and Encourage innovative thinking.
• Be comfortable and positive with change management, supporting smooth transitions within the team and department.
• Be focused and dedicated to creating new ways of working and streamlining current processes to improve service levels to our customers.
• Take ownership in making recommendations for solutions.
• Be confident to make decisions and take ownership.
• Cultivate an atmosphere of collaboration, teamwork, and communication.
• You will coordinate workflows to ensure the team and department deliver a first-class customer experience.
• Conduct monthly 121s and appraisals for your team., providing support and guidance to ensure they fulfil their goals and objectives.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

• Background working in an insurance environment, preferably for an MGA or Broker setting.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good judgement and decision making with the ability to use own initiative.
• Experience working in a team-leading role.
• A proactive ‘can do’ and flexible attitude. Be able to recognise priorities at short notice.
• Experience in people management, driving staff to achieve targets and goals.
• Managing change effectively.
• Good analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build successful relationships with stakeholders.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
